What is a CTA?
Do you ever feel like Marketers are speaking a completely different language? I know I do despite my years working in marketing. It’s so annoying to have a conversation with someone who says they can help and you end up having to make a mental note to look up every other word or acronym they use. You’re a dentist trying to understand how to use social media to help market your business, not a silicon valley tech startup CEO.
We’re starting a weekly blog post series called, ‘Obnoxious Marketing Jargon.’ We’ll define marketing terms and dissect how and why they’re important.
If you have any that you’re unsure of, please comment or send an email! We’ll be happy to discuss them on the blog.
CTA/CALL TO ACTION
A CTA or Call to Action is a photo or text that compels the viewer to take further action. Examples of a CTA:
-Button on a website that encourages visitors to download five free photos.
-Text in a social media post that encourages your audience to comment, like, or visit your website.
-A social sharing button at the end of a blog post.
The purpose of a Call to Action is to engage your audience and keep the relationship moving forward. Whether you’re asking a question in a post (‘What’s your kid’s favorite toothpaste flavor? Tell us in the comments!) or offering a free resource (‘Did you see the latest car seat recommendations from the AAP? Visit the link in our profile to download a list of places you can have your car seat checked for proper installation.) a CTA keeps your audience engaged and gets them used to taking action on your posts and content.
A Call to Action can be especially helpful as a follow up when you’ve met new potential patients. For example, at a community event where you have a booth set up. If you’ve been collecting email addresses, send a follow up email thanking them for stopping by, offer them a valuable piece of information (like the car seat example used above) and then invite them to connect with you on Social Media.
Calls to Action help increase your social media engagement and keep potential patients moving closer to making an appointment. Minty Content includes them throughout our content subscription.
